Arch-Viz in Unity Update - moody lighting, shadowplay - emotive imagery

This is a Graphisoft example European office building, pulled into Unity from ArchiCAD via Modo - a test for dealing with large numbers of entities - furnishings, doors, partitions etc. Looks *great* clad in Corten steel - thanks to Substance in Unity!

Rain - a definite reality, especially in Guernsey - but so seldom dealt with in arch-viz - I think it's important to make it look both right and good.

The intersection of wonderful materiality (again, thanks to Substance in Unity) and the lightplay warms the cockles of the architectural designer in me no end!

Although these moody nigh-time shots aren't typically of use in arch-vz, I thought I got a wonderfully evocative narrative mood going here.

Closer in - wildflowers and grasses and poplars... again I love the *feel* here - the emotive qualities, as much as the image qualities

I spent a while getting the fire in the fireplace exactly as I wanted - and of course then saved as a pre-fab for later use.

Whilst conducting BIM consulting (with some associated 3D design work and architectural design work) for James Gavey Architecture in Guernsey, I've also been working through some updates to my Unity-based Arch-Viz workflows and tools, and I'm now quite happy with some of the qualities of my results.

These are all just testbeds, not actual live projects, so I can share them; some I designed and modeled in Modo, some are imports of Graphisoft's example ArchiCAD BIM models pulled into Unity, where I then designed and built the environments.

I'm particularly happy with the unexpectedly æsthetically strong, emotive feel of some of what I'm achieving now - it won't appeal to every potential client, but some I hope will embrace a slightly more moody and emotional feel. Whilst it's of course important to showcase proposed build conditions in a way which emphasises ideal conditions and super-clean looks, I think there's a place for far more moody and emotive images as well - think of this mini-folio as a moodboard formoody arch viz!
